Newcastle revive Remy interest

With Newcastle’s long-drawn pursuit of Saido Berahino reaching an impasse over the weekend, The Chronicle report that the Magpies could once again turn their eyes towards Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

The Blues are set to seal the signature of Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato over the coming days, pushing Remy further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and potentially terminating his aspirations of securing a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for this summer’s European Championships.

If Remy is to revive his international career, he is almost certainly going to have to seek a move away from Chelsea before the window shuts on February 1st, and Steve McClaren’s goal-shy Newcastle side are keen to offer their former forward a platform to showcase his talents over the remaining 15 games of the season.
