Okay, so this isn’t going to be a popular opinion, but we should do everything to keep Moussa Sissoko this summer, even if he has publicly disrespected the club, staff and fans. The French international may think he is above the Championship and that he is entitled to a move to a bigger club. He is wrong. He has been one of the main reasons for our decline and since he arrived, we have continued to get worse. As one of the key players over that period, Sissoko has to take a large portion of the blame. His attitude has stunk and he has only turned up when he has felt like it.
I’d like Sissoko to lead Rafa’s revolution and change every fans perception of him. He is a potential Champions League player and if he stays here for another two years, I genuinely believe he would get a move to a club of that calibre and nobody would begrudge him a move at that point. The appointment of Benitez is a statement of intent to the footballing world that despite our relegation, we are on the road to challenging the top sides again. We need to keep the momentum and keep our best players too. Love him or hate him (most of you will be in the latter), he is one of the most talented players in the squad. We need to keep him.
