Shearer, Beardsley, Keegan, Albert, Wor’ Jackie – only to name a few players who have left their everlasting mark on the famous Newcastle United. Legends who have graced fans with performances to remember through the years.

Most players dream of having the same impact and leaving a similar trace in Geordie folklore, however, life on the Tyne isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Many have left the club without leaving much but a whimper.

For example, one would struggle to remember the likes of Amalfitano, Diatta, Gonzalez, Elena or Stéphane Guivarc’h, let alone anything they did during their time at the club. Some have seen their time in the North-East plagued by injury, whereas others have simply not been interested.

As Benitez continues to add reinforcements over the summer, a question-mark currently looms over the future of many United players. Sissoko & Wijnaldum are the first names that come to mind, two players who look set to depart the club in search of Champions League football.

They are big names, but also two departures not many Magpies supporters would lose sleep over. Indeed, more are likely to follow, however, few will remember when any of the following last wore the famous black-and-white shirt.
