Last Tuesday marked the end of Fabricio Coloccini’s career at Newcastle United, as the veteran captain of the squad departed Tyneside for his hometown club of San Lorenzo in Argentina. He left on a free transfer after he came to an agreement with the club for a mutual termination of his contract.
Coloccini’s last season with Newcastle began in tense circumstances after he had made it quite clear over the past two seasons that he wanted to return to Argentina to retire.
