Fulham is behind us and 52,000 Geordie’s will be behind the Magpies on Saturday afternoon, when we start again, we forget about the loss – we regroup and play against the dangerous Huddersfield Town.

How I Would Approach The Game

My starting eleven:

Sels, Janmaat, Lascelles (C), Mbemba, Dummett, Shelvey, Hayden, Ritchie, Aarons, Perez, Gayle.

We should play an attacking style against Huddersfield by trying to grab an early goal, and with Hayden sitting back, we should have enough cover at the back with Janmaat coming up from defence. We shouldn’t give Huddersfield a chance if we dominate the game. In the second half, Newcastle should sit back slightly and play the counter attack so Gayle or Armstrong can utilise their pace.

I’ve been doing my research on the Huddersfield team and have noticed that their defence plays a high line so this would be perfect for Gayle, Perez or Armstrong to run onto balls from the midfield. However, if Huddersfield are coming for a draw, they could sit back – making it hard for our attackers to get in behind their defence.

The Opposition

I spoke to two Huddersfield fans about the upcoming fixture. I asked about who we should look out for, what their opinions are about their manager, where they’ll finish, a score prediction and their predicted lineup.

Key Player

Callum Denton told us that the man to look out for was Aaron Mooy, who is on loan from Manchester City and he claimed “he’s the real deal already, a great passer of the ball and his ability to tackle just makes him the complete midfielder.” He also added their striker Nahki Wells who has scored 34 goals for Huddersfield. He will be dangerous with the right service.

Manager

I asked Damian Wales about their manager David Wagner. He said that he was “the best thing that has happened to club since getting promoted to League One.” Damian said that the passion he brings to the team is incredible. He has got his players playing a certain style (The German Way) which has benefitted the team. Damian stated: “I can see us progressing every year and maybe in the next 3/4 years or so, I can see us challenging for automatic promotion.”

Where Do You Realistically Think You Will Finish This Season?

Both fans predicted that the Terriers will finish mid table this season. They want to prove that they are on the way up. Callum said that he is “110% sure” that they will not get relegated despite pundits backing the team to go down.

Lineups?

Ward, Löwe, Hudson, Schindler, Smith, Mooy, Hogg, Lolley, Payne, Van La Parra, Kachunga.

Wells was left out due to his uncertain future at the club.

Is There A Weak Link In Your Team?

“At the back. We leak way to0 many goals and if Newcastle score early, we’ll find it hard to gain momentum for a draw.”

What Will The Score Be?

Damian: 2-0 Huddersfield.

Callum: 3-1 Newcastle.
