The last three games have illustrated the mental strength that Newcastle sides of the last decade or so have lacked.

Battling back from 1-0 down against Championship leaders Brighton with less than ten minutes to go and coming from behind to win a game for the first time this season, followed by an assured display at third-placed Huddersfield and a solid away draw vs Reading have allowed Newcastle to open up an 11 point lead at the top of the table and the club now have one foot back in the Premier League.

Summer transfer plans are being worked on as Newcastle edge closer to a return to English football’s top table and Rafa Benitez seeks confirmation that funds will be made available for a squad revamp in time for the start of next season.

But who are the club targeting? The Chronicle have revealed that Newcastle are eyeing up a number of players from across Europe’s top leagues and have made regular scouting checks on several players. Here’s who’s on the radar.
