Chinese club Beijing Guoan are planning to sign a number of Premier League players, including Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail.
The Ivorian midfield anchorman has also been subject to interest from Turkish side Galatasaray, as well as a number of other foreign clubs in recent months.
Tiote is valued at approximately £8 million by the Magpies, and it is believed that despite growing interest from external parties, Steve McClaren wants him to stay on Tyneside.
The 29-year-old was given a first-team chance last week against Arsenal after Vurnon Anita suffered a hamstring injury.
It would be a surprise if Tiote was allowed to leave without a replacement, as due to Anita’s injury, United are short in the centre midfield departments.
With 18 months left on his current contract, Newcastle will do well to get any decent fee for Tiote during this transfer window.
