Newcastle United have officially announced the signing of Senegalese midfielder Henri Saivet from Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.
Saivet has put pen-to-paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal, worth approximately £5million, after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £4.5million (as per The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder). He has been named in Opta’s Ligue 1 Team of the Season so far.
Upon signing for the Magpies, Saivet told the club’s official website: “I am very happy to be here at Newcastle.”
I am really proud to be able to play for this Club, and I am really excited at the challenge that lies ahead.
“St. James’ Park is a really impressive and special stadium. In France there is nothing that compares to this, and I can’t wait to get out there with my new teammates and help the team climb the table.”
